The Race

The race that starts the season and stops the country.

The Daytona 500 has been the opening event of the NASCAR season since 1982. At a 2.5-mile superspeedway, restrictor plate racing creates unpredictable drafting packs and chaotic finishes. No other race on the calendar carries the same weight for the sport.

Race week at Daytona includes a full schedule of support events -- The Duel qualifying races, the ARCA race, the Craftsman Trucks race -- making it one of the best full weeks in motorsport.

The Destination

Daytona Beach in February.

Daytona Beach in February is a different experience from peak season. The oceanfront properties are excellent. The speedway is less than two miles from the beach. The race week atmosphere builds through the week, starting with The Duel on Wednesday night.
