The weekend at a glance

• Friday is Carb Day. The last look before Sunday: final practice, the Pit Stop Challenge where crews go head to head for the fastest stop, and the Speedway at its rowdiest. A great warm-up day if you add it to the trip.
• Saturday is Legends Day. The day the whole place comes alive before the main event: driver appearances, the parade downtown, and Gasoline Alley coming to life. More of the weekend, if you want it.
• Sunday is Race Day. The heart of it, and the day you have to be here. The 111th running is Sunday, May 30, 2027, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
• The pageantry has no equal. "Back Home Again in Indiana," the balloons, the flyover, and the most famous command in motorsport, "Drivers, start your engines." Nothing else in sport builds a moment like the half hour before this race.
• The scale is the story. Around three hundred thousand people fill that track, the largest single-day sporting event in the world. Being inside a crowd that size is a thing you feel before the green flag ever flies.
